“My name is Blandine Kokusa, I am Congolese. When war broke out in my village, I fled to Kampala with my children in 2015. Coping with life as a refugee and single mother was very difficult. I was warmly welcomed by the Congolese community, but over time it became a challenge to provide for the needs of my children as a single mother. In search of a better life, I was connected with a rescue foundation where I received training in handbag making, enabling me to move into a new house with my children and enroll them in school.
